French radio station reveals Monaco’s next big transfer move.
AS Monaco have put a £25.7m transfer offer on the table for Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria, reports French website Le 10 Sport.
The newly promoted Ligue 1 side are owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev and the tycoon has given the Principality club a huge budget to spend on new players this summer.
Monaco have already secured the services of former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho, as well as tying up a £60m deal for FC Porto duo Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez.
Likewise Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao is expected to complete a £51m move to the Stade Louis II in the next few days, as Les Monegasques look to challenge fellow wealthy French league side Paris Saint-Germain next season.
Now it seems manager Claudio Ranieri has turned his attention towards the Santiago Bernabeu for the next transfer dealing, with Di Maria his favourite option.
The Argentina international signed for Madrid from Benfica for £29m back in the summer of 2010 and this season has scored 11 goals and provided a further 10 assists for Los Blancos in all competitions.
If Monaco can land the 25-year-old and Falcao it would take their current spending this summer to just under £127m, with Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes also expected to sign for Les Rouges et Blanc before the start of the 2013/14 campaign.
Di Maria has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital having failed to make as much of an impact that was expected of such a big money signing and Monaco will be keeping close tabs on the Argentinian.
