There was a huge twist in the Pedro transfer saga today as the Barcelona star snubbed Manchester United and instead flew to London to complete a transfer to Chelsea.
Red Devils fans are bewildered as to how and why they missed out on the World Cup winner, but can reportedly point the finger of blame at bullish manager Louis van Gaal.
The Mirror understands that Pedro was put off a switch to Old Trafford by Van Gaal’s treatment of former Camp Nou teammate Victor Valdes, with whom he remains good friends.
Van Gaal has banished the decorated Spanish goalkeeper to the reserves and put him on the transfer list after accusing him of refusing to play for the club’s second string.
Although Pedro is intent on leaving Barcelona in search of more regular football, the 28-year-old was reportedly alarmed by the harsh way in which Van Gaal can operate.
Therefore he jumped at the chance to join Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea when they made their interest in the forward concrete. He is now on his way to London to undergo a medical.
