The Blues boss wants the Galatasaray striker back at Stamford Bridge.
Didier Drogba will return to Chelsea for the first time since 2012 when Galatasaray take on the west London side in the Champions League last-16.
However, with the striker’s contract with the Turkish champions up at the end of the season, Blues manager Jose Mourinho has hinted at a return for the club legend at Stamford Bridge.
“It’s not [up to] me, it is up to Chelsea,” the 51-year-old was quoted by the Independent.
“I think it has to happen one day. When, I don’t know. As a player, as a coach, as an ambassador, next year, in four or five years, or 10 years, I don’t know.
“But when a person represents so much to a club and the club represents so much to a person, as is the case, I think he has to be welcomed back.
“Undoubtedly, he’s one of the most important players in the history of this club. That’s not a doubt. We all, Chelsea supporters, agree with that.”

Drogba spent eight years with the club between 2004 and 2012, winning 10 major trophies including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final triumph two years ago.
The Ivory Coast international then departed for China before returning to Europe with Gala, but at 36-years-old is approaching the end of a very successful career.
Whether or not Mourinho would bring Drogba back as a player for one last hurrah in unknown, but it does seem like the African’s future does lie in the English capital in some capacity.
