‘Mou’ should be announced as the next Chelsea head coach later this summer.
Jose Mourinho wants to make Benfica midfield player Nemanja Matic his first signing when he returns to manage Chelsea this summer, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Portuguese is expected to announce his decision to quit his post as head coach of Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the Liga season after three years at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The ‘Special One’ is already putting recruitment plans in place in order to be able to challenge both Premier League champions Manchester United and big-spending top-flight outfit Manchester City for the title next season.
And, one of those new arrivals in west London is expected to be former Chelsea player Matic, who made just the two appearances for the Blues between 2009 and 2011, before being sold to Portuguese giants Benfica as part of the deal that also brought Brazil defender David Luiz in the opposite direction.
The Serbia international, however, has been a revelation since arriving in Lisbon, particularly in this campaign when the 24-year-old has netted five times in 36 appearances as Benfica have made it all the way to the final of the Europa League, where they will face Chelsea later this month.
