The ‘Special One’ confirms that he is interested in Rooney.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has become the latest to confirm that the club are interested in signing Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
Speaking from the Blues’ pre-season tour of the far-east the Portuguese boss admitted that the west London side are looking to sign the 27-year-old, as reports BBC journalist Richard Conway via Twitter.
Mourinho on Rooney: “Nothing is a secret anymore… Chelsea is interested in the player, Chelsea made an official bid”

Q. Have Chelsea bid for anyone else? Mourinho: “No” Q. So it’s Rooney or bust? Mourinho: “yes”. #cfc #mufc

The 50-year-old also put to bed rumours that the three-time Premier League champions had offered either Juan Mata or David Luiz as part of the deal, insisting no players were being used as makeweights.
However, it does seem that Mourinho is putting all his eggs in one basket in terms of signing the England international, with the club presumably sticking with Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku if the United man is not signed.
Yet the Rooney saga has fully blown up in the last 24 hours with Chelsea lodging an official bid for the forward on Tuesday evening.
Although this was rejected by United, the fact that the Englishman wants to leave Old Trafford and the Blues need attacking reinforcements, points to the fact that it’s only a matter of time until Mourinho gets his man.
If the transfer does go through it will be one of the most surprising moves the Premier League has ever seen.
