Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be considering entrusting 19-year-old Betrand Traore with a surprise role in the first team this season.
The Burkina Faso international is an attacking midfielder by trade, but the Daily Express claims that Mourinho might use him as a makeshift left-back.
The Portuguese has reportedly been in the market for a deputy to Cesar Azpilicueta, and has been linked with an interest in Augsburg’s Baba Rahman and Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose.

But Mourinho is apparently reluctant to add to his squad after the Premier League season starts this weekend, and so may look for a solution from within his current group.
Traore spent last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, scoring 13 times in 28 Eredivisie appearances, but Mourinho feels that he would also be capable of playing in defence.
The teenager, finally granted a work permit to play in England earlier this summer, started Chelsea’s pre-season defeats to New York Red Bulls and Fiorentina – on both occasions in midfield.
