Liverpool are still keen to strengthen their midfield, and have turned their attentions to Newcastle United midfielder Moussa Sissoko in the summer window.
According to the Metro, the Reds have made an offer of £17m and are desperate to clinch the France international’s signature – despite having already made six major senior signings ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
Chelsea have also expressed interest; however, Jose Mourinho isn’t expected to go head-to-head with the Reds, as reports continue to suggest that the Portuguese manager’s priority is firmly on Everton‘s John Stones.

Newcastle are said to be reluctant to sell Sissoko, as the 25-year-old has become a key player at St James’ Park – making 69 Premier League appearances in the last two seasons.
However, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is rumoured to have been left impressed – in particular – by the Frenchman’s versatility, and will look to push through a deal in the coming weeks.
