Luke Shaw appears to be on most Premier League clubs’ wish list.
Southampton’s 17-year-old left-back Luke Shaw is going to be David Moyes’ first signing at Manchester United, if he can fend off interest from Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.
The Scot has been a long-term admirer of Shaw after sending his scouts to watch the youngster last season whilst still Everton manager.
At the time Moyes wanted to bring in the teenager to act as competition to Leighton Baines and to become new first choice in defence were Baines to leave for Old Trafford.
However, since the 50-year-old has become Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at United plans have changed and in a bid to put his own stamp on the Red Devils squad the Glaswegian will try and bring Shaw to Manchester.
The teenager will be torn if United try and sign him as he is a self-confessed Chelsea fan and could be more tempted in a move to Stamford Bridge if the opportunity arose.
That being said, the defender himself has previously stated that he may stay at the Saints for a little while longer in order to achieve first-team football, although with Shaw not signing a professional contract with the club until July there is plenty of time to have his mind changed.
The left-back position at Old Trafford is fast becoming the most talked about at the club, with Baines also linked with a reunion with Moyes – casting doubt over Patrice Evra’s future in the north west, despite the Frenchman having another good season.
