It’s a repeat of the 2013 final in IPL 7 as reigning champions Mumbai Indians take on Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai were rooted to the bottom of the table after the UAE leg of the 2014 tournament, having lost every one of their five matches in the Middle East.
Chennai meanwhile had been in fine form and after losing their opening match of the competition there were victories in six successive games.
That gap has closed slightly in recent times though, with the hosts enjoying a good run of late which has seen them beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs and in form Kings XI Punjab.
The Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma has finally found his touch with the bat and all-rounder Kieron Pollard has also had some good knocks.
They are well supported by the experienced bowling duo of Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh – although losing Zaheer Khan to a shoulder injury will be a massive blow.
For the Super Kings their top order has been good enough to rival anyone this year, with openers Brendon McCullum and Dwayne Smith looking sharp, along with skipper MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina.
If there has been one weakness for CSK it is their bowling attack, as Kings XI showed when they brushed aside Mohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in a comfortable victory.
