De Laurentiis forthcoming on the future of both Mazzarri and Cavani at the club.
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has delivered coach Walter Mazzarri an ultimatum over his future, stating that he has four days to decide whether or not he is staying.
The Italian tactician has been linked with a move away from the Partenopei, with clubs such as Roma, Inter and PSG all rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services.
Having successfully guided Napoli back into the Champions League for next season after finishing second in Serie A, as is the case every summer it remains unclear as to whether Mazzarri will remain in charge to begin the next campaign.
“Mazzarri is a great coach that I would have liked to continue with. I will wait for him for four more days and will remind him that one who leaves does not know what he is going to find…” he told Tuttosport as reported by Goal.com.
De Laurentiis also faced questions over the future of striker Edinson Cavani, who has been linked with a big-money move away from the San Paolo this summer.
The Uruguayan marksman tops the scoring charts in Serie A this year, and despite the club making strides towards being able to compete both domestically and in Europe, there are suggestions he is contemplating a move at the end of the season.
However, De Laurentiis had a message for supporters that as long as he remains at the club, they need not worry.
“Cavani has a buyout clause. If someone comes to pay that clause, and the destination is okay with the player, then I cannot say no because contracts are contracts. We are good people and we respect them.
“But you should not worry about neither Cavani nor Mazzarri. You should worry only about whether Mr Aurelio De Laurentiis leaves.
“But there is no need to be concerned about this, because I love Napoli,” he concluded.
Napoli face Roma on Sunday in the final game of the season, which may well represent the last game for either Mazzarri or Cavani, or even both.
