Gunners have tough competition for outspoken Milan ace.
Arsenal will have to fend off some stiff competition to land AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli this summer after fellow Serie A giants Napoli declared their interest in signing the player, according to Daily Star.
Reports in Italy this week are suggesting that the San Paolo outfit are bracing themselves for the departure of star striker Gonzalo Higuain, who has strongly been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.
Higuain, who was a target for the Gunners last summer, has openly said that he would welcome a move to the Nou Camp, as he is keen to link up with international team-mate Lionel Messi.
And the club have apparently identified the former Man City striker as the ideal man to replace the Argentine should he make his exit over the coming weeks.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the outspoken star, and manager Arsene Wenger is said to be willing to put an offer of around £25m on the table to snap him up.
It is believed that Wenger secretly met with Balotelli’s agent last week to thrash out a deal to bring him to the club this summer.
However, they will have to move fast in order to fend of Rafa Benitez’s advances.
