Spaniard has endured a difficult time of it in the capital.
High-flying Serie A outfit Napoli want to sign misfiring Chelsea front man Fernando Torres this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The Spain international has been at Stamford Bridge for two-and-a-half years now after signing for the west London club from Liverpool for a British-record transfer fee of £50 million.
However, in the intervening period in the capital the one-time deadly striker has found it hard to adapt to life with the Blues, finding the back of the net just once in his first 14 Premier League games under then manager Carlo Ancelotti.
And even after the Italian’s departure from the club, the Spaniard’s goalscoring form has not improved drastically, with Torres registering just six and eight top-flight strikes in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 campaigns respectively.
Now Napoli hope to be able to persuade the 29-year-old to move to Serie A this summer, possibly alongside his mentor and the current Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez, in a deal worth £20m.
