Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has admitted that he wishes he could sell Arsenal target Gonzalo Higuain.
Speculation has continued to link the Argentinian ace with an exit from the San Paolo this summer, particularly given that he has insisted that he wants Champions League football next season.
Arsenal, Man United and Liverpool have all been linked with an interest at various times, although the Gunners have seemingly been placed as the front-runner to land the former Real Madrid star.
Nevertheless, while they will have been alerted by De Laurentiis’ comments, it does come with a slight problem given that he still remains adamant that he will only sell for the release clause fee of €90m that is stipulated in his contract.
“I wish! With €90m I’d buy eight players!” De Laurentiis said, in response to being asked if the Argentinian international would be leaving, as reported by Football Italia.
The 27-year-old has proven to be a prolific scorer both in Spain and Italy, and it remains to be seen whether or not the Premier League will be his next adventure next season.
Provided that Napoli remain stubborn in their stance, similar to how they dealt with the departure of Edinson Cavani, it is unlikely that any club will be meeting their demands.
