Cavani and Dzeko up for discussion as Italian side look to make deal.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed that he will send director Riccardo Bigon to speak with Manchester City regarding Edinson Cavani and Edin Dzeko.
Cavani is widely expected to leave the Partenopei this summer, and has been a top transfer target for several clubs around Europe.
However, it appears that Napoli, fresh from their second-place finish in Serie A this season, have identified Dzeko as the ideal replacement and will enter negotiations with City over the possibility of the two swapping places in a player plus cash deal.
“I’ve asked sporting director Riccardo Bigon to go and speak to City about Cavani and to negotiate for Dzeko,” De Laurentiis told a Neapolitan radio station as quoted by football-italia.net.
The Serie A giants are going through a great deal of change this summer, following the news that coach Walter Mazzarri will be leaving next month after four years in charge.
While Cavani is likely to follow him out with Dzeko potentially arriving, one man who had been rumoured to replace Mazzarri has not spoken with the club.
De Laurentiis dismissed speculation he was in London on Monday to meet with Chelsea interim coach Rafa Benitez, but has revealed he has already spoken with several coaches.
“Who will I hire? Certainly someone who is up to the standards of Napoli. I need to understand which people will be by my side over the next few years,” he added.
While the search continues for a successor for Mazzarri, it appears that De Laurentiis has found one for top goal-scorer Cavani in Bosnian marksman Dzeko.
