Portuguese ace could be fourth Madrid star to move to Naples this summer.
Napoli are set to continue their summer spending spree and will now switch their attention to bringing in defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.
Coach Rafa Benitez has already overseen the arrivals of the likes of Jose Callejon, Dries Mertens and Gonzalo Higuain, but along with Raul Albiol, he still feels more can be done to strengthen the defence and midfield in the current squad.
Amongst his targets according to La Gazzetta dello Sport is Fabio Coentrao, who could become the fourth Real Madrid star to move to Naples this summer were a deal to be reached.
Given that relations are strong between the two clubs having done so much transfer business with one other over the past month, it is believed that Napoli are in a good position to snap up the Portuguese ace were he to leave the Spanish capital.
In addition, the club are also looking at Feyenoord’s 21-year-old starlet Bruno Martins Indi, while Cagliari’s Davide Astori also remains on option according to the pink paper.
Gazzetta also claim that Lyon midfielder Maxime Gonalons is also being monitored, with the 24-year-old an alternative to Marco Verratti if the young Italian decides to stay in Paris.
However, there is no secret over Napoli’s interest in Porto star Jackson Martinez, with Benitez himself revealing that the club are looking at all their options ahead of the new campaign.
While it is understood that there is an agreement with the player over personal terms, Napoli have yet to meet the €40m asking price which is also the 26-year-old’s release clause.
