Bellew and Cleverly set for November showdown: Pair set for rematch in Liverpool on November 22.
As part of a two-stop tour on Wednesday, Nathan Cleverly and Tony Bellew went head-to-head in a heated press conference in Liverpool.
The pair will travel to Cardiff for the second of two promotional press conferences on Wednesday, and it promises to be equally as tense with the pair exchanging verbals during proceedings.
The rematch is set for November 22 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, with promoter Eddie Hearn revealing that the likes of James DeGale, Anthony Joshua and Callum Smith will all feature on the undercard.
However, the main event promises to be explosive as both fighters have promised knockout victories, with Cleverly looking to repeat his win in their initial bout back in 2011.
Cleverly insists that Bellew will not hear the final bell this time round, while his opponent is confident that it will be the other way round come fight night.
The Merseysider insists that he did not “whinge and moan” his way into a rematch as claimed by his rival, but that he merely asked for one after a close fight between the pair the first time round.
That is ultimately where the bad blood has stemmed from as Bellew believes that Cleverly not only broke a promise but was also extremely disrespectful towards him in the aftermath of that fight, and as a result he is now ready to silence him.
While the pair were able to keep their tempers in check this time round, it remains to be seen if it remains as calm all the way through to fight night. Watch the full press conference below courtesy of iFL TV:
