Porzingis participated in a group workout in Las Vegas on Friday, an event that is attended by numerous individuals from front offices around the league.
As he has done previously this year, he received rave reviews which in turn has led to speculation that he could indeed be high on the agenda for a number of teams which could cause a huge shock on Draft night.
The general consensus remains that Karl-Anthony Towns will go to the Minnesota Timberwolves with the number one overall pick and then Jahlil Okafor will be selected by the Los Angeles Lakers at No.2
D’Angelo Russell could be heading to the Philadelphia 76ers, but from the New York Knicks with the fourth overall pick onwards, it remains unclear as to which prospect will be going where.
“Porzingis was VERY impressive in workout. A scout called him the best player in the draft “He’s better than Karl Towns,” said the scout,” the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
“Some league executives think Porzingis could become the best player in this draft. However, they believe KAT is the safe pick at No. 1.
“While Porzingis has solid offensive skills for a 7-1 PF, there’s a sense that Russell is still the better option for the Sixers.”
The Sixers don’t seem to make sense for the Latvian starlet as they already have both Nerlens Noel and Joel Embiid in their front court, and their priority would seemingly lie with a guard to compliment them.
As a result, don’t rule out the Knicks from considering Porzingis while there will be several other teams intrigued by his ability and could open up discussions about moving up the board.
