The Warriors ended the regular season with a 67-15 record to finish as the No.1 seed in the Western Conference, before defeating the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets to get to this stage.
Meanwhile, the Cavs went 53-29 to finish second in the standings in the East, while they overcame the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks to ensure that LeBron James makes his fifth straight NBA Finals appearance.
Nevertheless, it was Stephen Curry who landed the MVP award this year, and their battle will be one of many that will ultimately determine who comes out on top in what should be a thrilling season finale.
These two teams have lost just five times in the playoffs between them, and essentially fans can have no arguments about having two of the best sides in the league contest the Finals.
Golden State and Cleveland split their regular season series 1-1, with the Warriors winning 112-94 on January 9, before the Cavs hit back with a 110-99 victory in February.
Starting line-ups:
Golden State: Curry, Thompson, Barnes, Green, Bogut.
Cleveland: Irving, Shumpert, James, Thompson, Mozgov.
