Prediction
On paper, this should be Golden State’s championship to lose. They have better talent, a deeper roster and a raucous home crowd that can undoubtedly make a difference.
However, championships are obviously not won on paper. Cleveland have proven over the last two series’ that they can compete even without Love and Irving.
Role players such as Matthew Dellavedova, Smith and Shumpert have stepped up, and they have been lethal from beyond the arc in particular while improving the team on defense.
Cleveland really shouldn’t even be here as both the Hawks and Bulls missed big opportunities to defeat them given their depleted roster. However, they are here and they will have plenty to say before this series is over.
Nevertheless, the Warriors remain the popular pick and for good reason. Curry, Thompson and Draymond Green will be key, as will their shooting from three-point range. However, they have multiple scoring options to rival and out-shine the Cavs, and even though James will have a huge impact, he alone won’t be enough to win the series.
NBA Finals 2015 prediction: Golden State Warriors 4-2 Cleveland Cavaliers.
Series MVP: Stephen Curry
