Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau stated that Rose is “good”, according to ESPN, and the general consensus within the organisation is that the point guard should be able to return within four to six weeks.
While Thibodeau refused to go into details as to what activities Rose participated in, he insisted that it was just “initial steps” but everyone is in good spirits after recovering from the initial shock of the former MVP suffering yet another injury setback.
The 26-year-old tore the ACL in his left knee back in 2012, before tearing the meniscus in his right knee for the first time in November 2013.
Naturally, that is expected to take its toll on a player given all the rehab and time spent on the sidelines involved in the process, but Thibodeau believes that he is prepared for what is to come and can take confidence from the fact that he has already come back twice.
Regardless, it will have come as a huge blow for Rose in particular as he had shown signs prior to the All-Star break of getting back to somewhere close to his best while he has averaged 18.4 points and 5.0 assists per game so far this season.
The explosive point guard is considered a key part of Chicago’s championship push, and his absence certainly shortens their chances of defeating the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the post-season should they be matched up.
While the Bulls will undoubtedly be cautious with his return, they will be keen to see Rose return as soon as he is healthy, as it will not only give him the opportunity to silence the critics again but it will also boost morale in the camp in general.
