The Suns opted to blow up their roster ahead of the trade deadline last week, trading Goran Dragic to the Miami Heat while Thomas secured a move to the Celtics.
After months of issues with their three-man guard rotation, Eric Bledsoe is now the only remaining player from that problematic period and Dragic was never shy about airing his displeasure with the situation.
Coupled with the Slovenian star becoming a free agent this summer, it was widely acknowledged that he wouldn’t stay in Phoenix as he repeatedly hinted at considering every team in the NBA when it came to the summer.
Nevertheless, Thomas has moved to dismiss speculation that he used to complain about his minutes in Phoenix, but he can’t say the same for others and he insists that it was common knowledge considering it went through the media too.
“The guy that complained, you seen it in the media. I didn’t say anything,” he said, according to Pro Basketball Talk.
For all the speculation that Thomas was the one creating problems in the locker room, Dragic’s unhappiness was always the main issue and as soon as it became clear that he wouldn’t re-sign with the Suns, they moved to trade him.
Thomas also departed because the Suns had the opportunity to upgrade to Brandon Knight, and so he will now be tasked with leading the back-court alongside Bledsoe while their former star took the opportunity to beat them on Monday night with Boston.
