Not content with blasting just Los Angeles Lakers veteran Kobe Bryant, whom Dudley said put players off from joining the Los Angeles Lakers, he has now taken a swipe at ‘Melo too.
However, rather than just flat out criticise the Knicks star, Dudley did provide reasoning to back up his claim and ultimately it makes a lot of sense.
The Bucks star is known for speaking openly and giving his honest opinion on matters, and he continued in that same vein on Wednesday when speaking to The Herd.
“The reason why I say Carmelo is because Carmelo is viewed as a top-five player. He’s viewed in the NBA as a top-five,” he said.
“Carmelo, he has the talent to be able to be able to facilitate – the triangle should fit him where he’s got to make guys better, and defensively, he’s got to take the next level up. But Carmelo, he’s get to get out. He’s go to get out of the first/second round. He’s got to get teams to the playoffs.
“LeBron, with that roster, LeBron would have gotten them to the playoffs. They would have been at least the eight seed.”
While Dudley does have a point in his assertion, it is unfair to perhaps compare him to LeBron James who is undoubtedly on another level.
Anthony is a great scorer and one of the top players in the league, but the biggest criticism that can be directed at him is that he doesn’t do enough to make his teammates around him better. If he can do that next season, then the Knicks will enjoy a much better year than the one they just experienced.
