NBA Season Preview 2014/15 Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol is suffering from a knee bone bruise which has ensured that he has been listed as questionable for the game against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.
The Grizzlies announced the injury update on Thursday after the Spaniard suffered the knock on his knee during Wednesday night’s 105-96 loss to the Houston Rockets.
Gasol ended that game with a season-low eight points before having an MRI scan on Thursday which revealed the extent of the damage.
The Grizzlies star was bothered by knee soreness last year which kept him sidelined for a period and so Memphis will be hopeful that it will not keep him out for too long after an impressive start to the season.
The 29-year-old is averaging 19.4 points per game along with eight rebounds per contest as the Grizzlies enter Friday’s game with the second-best record in the NBA at 15-3.
However, having lost their lead in the Western Conference to the Golden State Warriors who are on an 11-game winning streak, they will hope to get Gasol back as soon as possible in order to maintain their current momentum and continue to push for a top seeding.
San Antonio enter the game as the outsiders, but should Gasol be confirmed out then the visitors will have their hopes of securing a significant win over the rivals boosted.
The Spurs are currently 13-5 for the season and will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing loss to the Brooklyn Nets last time out.
