Davis left the game with three minutes remaining in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game as he underwent further tests.
The injury was aggravated after he got hit under the basket while battling for the ball and he was seen walking off the court before play could even be stopped as he grabbed his right shoulder and grimaced.
The 21-year-old immediately headed to the locker room for X-rays and further evaluation from the team doctors, and now the Pelicans face a nervous wait for news on how serious the injury is.
Davis initially hurt his shoulder against the Chicago Bulls on February 7 after a heavy fall, and he missed two games straight after before being forced to sit out the All-Star Game despite being voted in as a starter.
Having averaged 24.3 points this season, Davis has continued to emerge as a vital part of the team and their playoff push will certainly be impacted if the injury is serious.
New Orleans were in 10th spot in the Western Conference with a 27-27 record ahead of the Miami game, and having now fallen two games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder for that final playoff spot, they will need their franchise player healthy to help lead the charge.
