Los Angeles Lakers star Nick Young has insisted that he has the answer to the franchise’s problem after Kobe Bryant was ruled out for the rest of the season.
The Lakers announced on Monday that Bryant would undergo shoulder surgery after suffering a torn rotator cuff against the New Orleans Pelicans last week.
Speculation has suggested that the Lakers star had been struggling with the strain since pre-season, but either way he will now miss the rest of the season and look to return in shape for his final year in the league.
The Lakers have struggled with or without Bryant in the line-up and they are looking at finishing in the bottom five teams with the worst record in the NBA for a second consecutive year.
However, from a sceptical standpoint, they may well decide to ‘tank’ from now until the end of the year given that they will protect their first round Draft pick and will hope to rebuild this summer in free agency.
Nevertheless, Young has the answer and it is simple: “Pretty much just give me the ball and get out the way”, he told reporters, according to Mark Medina.
The Lakers are likely to lose plenty of more games over the course of the next few months, and so they will likely hand Young the ball a lot more given that he is capable of creating his own shots.
While the Staples Center faithful will be looking for entertainment to end the year at least, Young can provide that, both on and off the court.
