Along with future first and second-round Draft picks, the Blazers have sent forwards Thomas Robinson and Victor Claver and guard Will Barton to the Nuggets, according to Yahoo Sports.
Portland have also acquired Alonzo Gee in the trade deal, but it is Afflalo who will likely play a key role for the team down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs.
The 29-year-old is averaging 14.5 points on 42 percent shooting this season, and so he will certainly add some much needed perimeter shooting depth for the Blazers.
Both the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers had been paired with an interest in the former Nuggets star, but Portland have secured his signature and will hope to re-sign him in the summer in order to keep him long-term.
Afflalo’s move starts what could be a busy day for the Nuggets with the likes of Ty Lawson and Wilson Chandler also linked with exits, but it remains to be seen whether or not deals are completed in time ahead of the 3 p.m. (ET) deadline.
According to reports on Thursday, Lawson could be used to agree a trade deal with the Indiana Pacers as coach Brian Shaw would like to be reunited with veteran point guard George Hill.
However, for now Denver fans will have only lost one player as they look to rebuild after a disappointing season and aim to compete in the Western Conference again starting from next year.
