Curry joined the ‘Dan Patrick Show’ on Tuesday and was discussing the race for the MVP award which pits him against the likes of James, James Harden, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.
While all five players have been in sensational form this year, Curry is still regarded as the favourite by many experts and fans, particularly given that the Warriors have the best record in the league in large part thanks to Curry’s overall play and leadership of the team.
However, while also making the point that the players should have a say in who the award goes to, Curry revealed his pick for the MVP this season and suggested that if he could vote anonymously, he would vote for himself.
“I think [players] should have a portion of the vote,” Curry said, as reported by Bleacher Report.
“Obviously, we’re the ones playing against each other and we know who’s having the best year and who’s doing things that, you know, really stand out.”
“If I can’t vote for myself or Klay, then…this year, I’d probably vote for LeBron.”
Patrick was surprised by his selection and many don’t consider the two-time NBA champion to realistically be in the running despite his high level of play.
The likes of Harden, Westbrook and Davis have put their teams on their back and carried them through most of the season, and by James’ high standards he is having a decent campaign.
Nevertheless, the voting will open in the coming weeks and it will be decided as to whether or not Curry gets his wish and lands the prestigious award.
