Warriors faced adversity and prevailed
Golden State sailed through the regular season and then followed that up with a comfortable series sweep of the New Orleans Pelicans in the opening round.
As a result, even though their rivals and fans were left impressed, it wasn’t yet clear how rookie coach Steve Kerr and his men would react if they were put under intense pressure.
The Memphis Grizzlies did that by taking a 2-1 series lead against them as they became only the third team all year to win at the Oracle Arena and thus take away home-court advantage from the No.1 seed.
However, led by MVP Stephen Curry, the Warriors proved that they have resiliency in abundance as they fought back and prevailed 4-2 against a defensive-minded team that looked to suffocate them.
Their shooting slump during that series will be a concern, but it is an entirely different proposition to ask the veteran unit that the Rockets have to keep their back-court quiet over the course of a possible gruelling seven-game series.
