Harden and Howard are a superstar duo
The plan for the Rockets was always to build around their star duo, with James Harden even suggesting before the season started that the rest of the roster was merely made up of a support cast.
While they all played a role in getting Houston this far, the franchise relies heavily on these two to make the difference, particularly at this time of the season. Harden, who was a strong contender for the MVP award, scored 31 points in the Game 7 decider against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, further cementing his spot as one of the best active players in the league.
Meanwhile, Howard has put his injury woes behind him to become a double-double machine, and aside from his usual struggles at the free-throw line, he remains a beast on both ends of the floor and is a key component to Houston’s strategy of hitting threes. Both will need to step up another level against the Warriors though.
