Official release of schedule is at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday….
Chicago Bulls star Pau Gasol will reportedly be reunited with his former Los Angeles Lakers teammates on Christmas Day ahead of the schedule announcement which is set for Wednesday.
It is expected that Kobe Bryant will line up against his long-time teammate and friend on December 25 according to ESPN sources, with this being the 16th straight year that the Lakers have played on one of the NBA’s marquee dates during the regular season.
While it has already been suggested that LeBron James faces a reunion with the Miami Heat on the same night, the league are undoubtedly trying to exploit certain situations if rumours are to be believed, with the Los Angeles Clippers set to reignite their rivalry with the Golden State Warriors too.
Nevertheless, this is the first road game that the Lakers will have to play on Christmas Day since going to Miami to play Shaquille O’Neal and the Heat in 2006.
Meanwhile, it is also reported that the Lakers will start the season against the Houston Rockets, with Bryant denied the opportunity to take on Dwight Howard last year due to injury in the latter’s first season after spurning the Lakers in free agency.
Although Gasol left the Lakers in good spirits despite his fall-out with former coach Mike D’Antoni, it will be interesting to see how the Spaniard is able to perform against his former friends as he looks to now help inspire the Bulls towards a championship next season.
The number of sub-plots in the NBA continue to captivate fans and the media, and the NBA are expected to confirm the speculation at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday when they release the schedule for the 2014-15 season
