The Nuggets are currently 20-33 for the season and they are considered to be one of the most active teams ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline as they look to make multiple moves in order to rebuild for next year.
Despite the fact that Lawson is their leader in scoring, assists and steals so far this season, it hasn’t secured his future with the franchise and head coach Brian Shaw is looking to move him on in order to acquire Hill, ESPN reports.
It is reported that Shaw has struggled to find a balance with Lawson this season and after spending time being a mentor to Hill during his spell in Indiana, he understands what he can bring to the team on both sides of the court.
However, it isn’t clear if the Pacers are willing to part with their point guard as they recently insisted that they would keep the roster together and wait for Paul George to return from injury and allow them another push at a championship before breaking it all up.
The Boston Celtics are also reportedly interested in Lawson, and it appears as though it is merely a matter of time before he finds a new team given that he missed practice on Wednesday because of what he called “derailed” travel plans.
Lawson may well be joined out the exit door by Aaron Afflalo, Wilson Chandler and Jameer Nelson, while coach Shaw isn’t exactly safe in his position either although that change could wait until the end of the year.
