Sources claim that Hunter finalised his decision with his family over the weekend, with his father, Georgia State coach Ron Hunter, playing a key role in his choice.
Hunter Jr made a significant contribution during the NCAA tournament in the final minutes of his team’s upset of Baylor in the round-of-64.
The 21-year-old hit a clutch shot which even sent his father falling off his stool in excitement as the team advanced beyond their initial expectations.
In addition, the pair won over the nation with their acts both on and off the court, with coach Hunter sharing a hilarious interview with his son in the immediate aftermath of that famous win.
However, things turned emotional after their elimination from the tournament, with Hunter Sr breaking down in front of the media as he revealed how proud he was of his son in particular as well as the entire team for their efforts.
Hunter Jr averaged 19.7 points for Georgia State this season and is considered to be a late first-round Draft pick with the all-important event taking place on June 25 in New York.
