NBA Draft takes place on June 26, Embiid expected to be selected early…
The Cleveland Cavaliers will host former Kansas center Joel Embiid in the coming weeks and conduct a physical ahead of the NBA Draft 2014.
According to ESPN, Embiid will not visit another team until the Cavaliers are given a chance to determine if they will select him with the top pick in the draft on June 26.
Cleveland will undoubtedly be keen to run tests on his back, after the NBA prospect was forced to miss the last six games of Kansas’ season due to a stress fracture which ultimately led to concerns over his future.
Embiid missed the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments as worries grew over his status, but it left him undeterred about opting to enter the draft and he was present for a workout last week in Los Angeles.
Nevertheless, given that he has been projected as the top choice, he will not visit either Milwaukee or Philadelphia, and the results of his physical will only be available to the Cavaliers.
However, there is also the possibility of the Cavaliers trading the No.1 pick, and there has been early speculation that they have had significant interest from teams around the league over a possible deal.
Should they choose to do that, then Embiid would be available to set up a visit with another team, while the Cavs could in fact choose to pass on him and in turn arrange meetings with both Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins who are widely considered as the top prospects in the draft class.
