Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant will “definitively” be coming back to play in the NBA next season after being ruled out for the rest of this year.
Bryant was ruled out for the rest of this season after deciding to undergo surgery on his right shoulder after suffering a torn rotator cuff last week.
The Lakers have confirmed that the procedure will take place on Wednesday, and it is certain that Bryant will not return to action again this season.
With just one year remaining on his contract and after suffering from general body soreness throughout the campaign, there have been suggestions that Bryant may well consider an early retirement this summer.
However, according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, Bryant will definitely be back next season.
“Those around Kobe say he is definitively coming back to play next season. Doesn’t want to go out like this,” he reported.
“Source: Kobe will also be active in free-agent recruiting for the Lakers, including pitches to possible future teammates in July”.
Bryant will likely see his minutes reduced further next season as he has needed to take time off this year to rest and recover while he has also continued to skip practices.
Nevertheless, it appears that he is adamant that he will return for one final push with the Lakers next season and it will come as a boost for both Lakers and NBA fans that he didn’t go out the way he did in New Orleans last week.
