The Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets have reportedly shown an interest in Brooklyn Nets’ Brook Lopez after a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder fell through.
Lopez had reportedly been set to be a part of a three-team deal involving the Thunder and Charlotte Hornets which would have seen Lance Stephenson make the move to Brooklyn.
However, the Nets pulled out of that deal as they didn’t like what they were receiving and did so again after direct negotiations with the Thunder in which they didn’t like what they would get in return for their center.
“Standing pat at this time,” one Nets source told Yahoo Sports.
“There was nothing we liked.”
Brooklyn are adamant that they want to receive assets in return rather than just use this process as a salary dump, and Lopez is certainly on the trade block after months of speculation has developed into real negotiations with teams.
However, with OKC and Charlotte currently out of the picture, it has been reported that both the Heat and Rockets have entered the discussion as they look to bolster their respective front-courts.
Nevertheless, many believe that this is a mere trade exercise from the Nets in order to drum up interest in their center who responded positively on Friday night with a solid performance against the Washington Wizards.
It remains to be seen whether or not he continues to be so professional given that he has publicly been dragged through the trade market, but the Thunder, Rockets and Heat are seemingly in a race to secure his signature.
