Mavs, Lakers and Clippers all linked with move for former Bulls star.
The Miami Heat have reportedly expressed ‘significant’ interest in free agent Luol Deng, although they will likely face stiff competition from around the league.
Although the Heat have been strongly linked with a move for Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, they are considering all their free agency options as they await decisions from the Big Three.
The Heat front office may well need to make upgrades in order to convince LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to take pay cuts, and in turn they will undoubtedly have a better opportunity to win back the NBA title.
As a result, Deng has emerged as potential target, according to Yahoo! Sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski, who has claimed that Miami team president Pat Riley has contacted his representatives to register ‘significant interest’.
However, Deng is understood to be in high demand this summer as he is expected to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers after just six months, with the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, Atlanta Hawks and former team the Chicago Bulls all interested in signing him.
Much will likely depend on where James and New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony land ahead of the new season, as it will likely have a knock-on effect for so many other players in terms of teams increasing their interest having missed out on their top targets.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether or not Deng would be interested in returning to Chicago, with the organisation trading him to Cleveland earlier this year as part of their continued efforts to create cap space for a potential run at Anthony.
