The Timberwolves had traded for Brooklyn Nets power forward Kevin Garnett.
Prince helped the Pistons upset the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals, and he has been one of the best defensive players in the NBA throughout his career as evidenced by making the All-Defensive Second Team four consecutive times.
After 11 seasons with the Pistons, Prince spent two full seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies before being traded to the Celtics in the middle of the 2014-15 season.
