College basketball tournament begins Tuesday as America prepares for month exciting college action.
March Madness is once again upon us, as we look ahead to a month of buzzer-beaters, bracket busters and all the other over-the-top American cliches that we love.
It is one of the most watched sporting events in America, as college basketball has a unique atmosphere about it, and can create moments that fans will talk about for years afterwards.
NBA greats such as Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose and a whole host of legends first started their rivalries during the month of March.
This year does not feature the past two champions, Kentucky Wildcats or Connecticut Huskies who have had a down year in performance, whilst new teams are forging potential dynasties for their college.
While Gonzaga Bulldogs may have finished the season as the number one ranked team in the country, many pundits believe that the Louisville Cardinals are the favourites for the national championship, as they possess the most complete team, with a superior shooting game.
The other title contenders include Ohio State Buckeyes, Kansas Jayhawks and Miami Hurricanes, who have all been ranked number one at some point this season, and there is no doubt that they all believe they have what it takes to win.
One potential dark horse is Butler Bulldogs. They reached back-to-back national championships between 2010-11, despite not generally being considered a top team. This year, they once again find themselves in the same situation, with an experienced coach at the helm in Brad Stevens.
If he can work his magic once again, they could well be this year’s Cinderella story too.
