Paulinho is happy to be moving to White Hart Lane
Expected new Tottenham Hotspur signing Paulinho has stated that he has no regrets in deciding to join Spurs from Corinthians in a £17m deal.
The midfielder has spoken out about the move and despite also being linked with Real Madrid and Inter Milan, the Brazilian believes the transfer to north London will most greatly benefit his career.
“They [Tottenham] made an offer to my agent and to Corinthians, I sat down, analysed the proposal and chose Tottenham. We think it was the best path, the best option,” the 24-year-old was quoted on Sky Sports.
“I am moving from one big club to Tottenham, another club in a big league. I am sure I will perform my job to the best of my ability. I don’t regret and I won’t regret [this decision].”
Paulinho will join Spurs on the back of a successful campaign with Brazil at the Confederations Cup – a tournament the hosts won when they beat world champions Spain 3-0 in the final.
The midfielder represents a great coup for manager Andre Villas-Boas, as he looks to strengthen his squad at white Hart Lane after the club agonisingly missed out on Champions League football last season by one point to rivals Arsenal.
Signing the Brazil international would break Tottenham’s transfer record as well, but AVB clearly feels it is worth it to land a player who has already earned 17 caps for his country and scored five goals – including an impressive volley to equalise against England earlier in the year.
