Danish international talks up the belief shown in him by Villa and Lambert.
New Aston Villa signing Jores Okore believes he made the right decision to turn down Chelsea in January, and is pleased that his new club have a great deal of belief in him.
The 20-year-old caught the Blues’ attention during their clashes in the Champions League last season, while he was still playing with his former club FC Nordsjaelland.
However, despite advances from Stamford Bridge back in January, he decided against moving to the capital and has since opted to join Villa in a £4m deal.
Okore says he has no regrets over his decision, claiming that Villa have a great deal of belief in him and is excited to play for Paul Lambert, having already seen his excellent work with the current youngsters at Villa Park.
‘I have a good feeling it was the right decision to turn down Chelsea,” Okore is quoted as saying by the Metro.
‘I feel that I have arrived at a club that believes in me.
‘The manager [Paul Lambert] has said all the right things and that has caught my attention. This is going to be good.’
It has been a fruitful summer thus far for Lambert, who along with Okore’s signing also extended Andreas Weimann’s contract while wrapping up a deal for midfielder Leandro Bacuna.
Having narrowly escaped relegation last season, there is a great deal of excitement surrounding Villa next season, as they continue to add young talents to the squad who also buy into Lambert’s expansive style of football.
It remains to be seen whether Okore delivers on the promise he has previously shown, but is undoubtedly confident he has what it takes to succeed at Villa Park.
