New Chelsea signing Mario Pasalic will sign for Spanish side Elche this summer, as the Blues look to ensure the young Croatian some first-team experience next season.
The 19-year-old, who recently moved to Stamford Bridge from Hajduk Split, has been dubbed the “next Luke Modric”, but the midfielder is unlikely to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s first-team plans at this stage in his development.
Reports in Spain claim that Elche are close to securing the deal, with the club’s president having already confirmed the move.
José Sepulcre publicly announced after the team’s first pre-season friendly against Eldense, that an agreement had been reached, and the move could be officially completed in the coming days.
Following a visit from Elche sporting director, Víctor Orta, the player was made aware of the opportunity for regular action in La Liga to aid his progress. He is expected to be joining the rest of the squad in training on either Monday or Tuesday.
Elche finished 16th in La Liga last season, and will be looking to strengthen in order to prevent a second successive battle against relegation, after being promoted from the second division a year earlier.
