They just signed veteran Josh McCown to a three-year contract after he had an unsuccessful one-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
McCown said that he wants to offer help to the young Browns quarterback.
“Johnny is a person, and every person that I come across has value to me and they matter, and so I want to help him as much as I can with all parts of it, but to grow as a person and as a player and to help him go on and have a fruitful career,” McCown said to NFL.com.
McCown is expected to win the starting job if Hoyer leaves in free agency since Manziel struggled mightily in his rookie season.
The Browns have provided Manziel with a mentor who can guide him on the right path, and the Browns have not given up on the 2014 first-round pick just yet.
