The New England Patriots are returning from their first-round bye to face the Baltimore Ravens, and they will look to establish their strong running game against a tough Ravens defense.
They will have to do so without the services of Jonas Gray though as he is suffering from an ankle injury. Luckily, they have power back LeGarrette Blount and pass-catching threat Shane Vereen in the backfield.
Gray burst onto the scene when he ran for 201 yards against the Indianapolis Colts, but he quickly fell off the map after Blount was brought back and he showed up late to a practice.
The Ravens possess the third-ranked run defense in the NFL, but Blount and Vereen will be determined to fill Gray’s absence.
Around the NFL released the news on the Patriots’ latest injury through Twitter.
Jonas Gray (ankle) is inactive for Patriots. Expect to see plenty of Shane Vereen against a defense that has yet to allow a 100-yard rusher.
