New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady concedes that his team will have to put up a lot of points as they take on the Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Luck.
The Colts (6-3) face the Patriots (7-2) in a huge showdown between two of the leading signal-callers in the league, and fresh from defeating Peyton Manning, Brady is in the mood for another scalp.
New England have had a bye week after their win over the Denver Broncos, and as they look to distance themselves from another AFC contender, Brady insists that they will have to put up significant points in order to overcome the challenge of their “ring-leader”.
“Their offense is doing a great job this year. They score a lot of points, especially at home, and he’s kind of the ringleader,” Brady said of Luck.
“… When you play another great offense, you’re going to have to put up a lot of points, similar to our last game. We realize we have a big job, too. You’re right, my focus is on the other side of the ball, but you also know you’re not going to be able to score 13 points and win the game.”
Luck is currently on a seven-game streak during which he has 21 touchdowns, six interceptions and an average of 363.3 yards for a 104.5 rating. He leads the league with 3,085 yards and he is on pace to surpass Manning’s record of 5,477.
However, he has struggled against the Patriots historically and has had seven interceptions in two games against them which could play on his mind on Sunday night.
Nevertheless, the Colts are coming off the back of a 40-24 win over the New York Giants on November 3, with Luck leading them to a sixth win in seven games.
Brady appears to have put the doubts surrounding him well behind him after the Patriots got off to a slow start, but they certainly face a difficult task this week to continue their good form.
