The Patriots were perhaps one good CB away from a Superbowl appearance last season. But Tom Brady now has Darrelle Revis leading the defense.
The Patriots and Washington will face off in preseason action as they introduce their big-name free agents to the NFL. Washington will also get their first taste of NFL action with new head coach Jay Gruden.
Washington will be trying to gel with the new and improved receiving corps, while the Patriots try to bring their healed-up defense back to game speed.
Notable Debuts:
Patriots
Darrelle Revis – once considered the best CB in the NFL, Darrelle Revis has been lighting it up in training camp with the Patriots. After two down years in New York and Tampa Bay, the man once dubbed “Revis Island” will make his debut to show if he is still the best in the game.
Washington
Desean Jackson – the former Eagles’ star was cut after disputes in Philadelphia and was quickly picked up by division rival Washington. He will make his debut catching passes from RGIII
Notable Returns:
Patriots
Patrick Chung – after some time away in Philly, the Patriots brought back hard-hitting safety Patrick Chung to augment the secondary.
Washington
Robert Griffin III – after a very down year in Washington, RGIII has a new head coach who specializes in getting the maximum potential out of QBs. He will see his first NFL action since last year as he enters his 3rd year in the league.
Prediction:
N/A – Preseason is not decided by starters
