The New England Patriots lost, 33-20, in a shocking upset to the Miami Dolphins as quarterback Tom Brady had a forgettable performance that consisted of 0-for-12 passing in the second half.
Wide receiver Brandon LaFell, who made his debut in a Patriots uniform after leaving the Carolina Panthers, also had a dud of a performance as he failed to catch a pass despite receiving six targets. He also committed two penalties.
The Patriots will look to bounce back from their meltdown against the Dolphins as they face the Minnesota Vikings, and LaFell is hoping to be a more reliable target for Brady.
“I just want to continue to get open, you know, catch the ball. Get open, catch the ball and make sure I don’t have any missed assignments during the game and take care of my business on every snap,” the former Panthers receiver said to the Boston Herald.
LaFell finished with a career-high 49 catches in his final season with the Panthers, and he showed potential as a red-zone weapon by catching five touchdown passes.
However, he will need to make the most of his opportunities in the Patriots offense. Otherwise, Brady will stop trusting him.
