Liverpool gave Malaysian fans a special treat on Thursday by deciding to play a 60-minute friendly at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, where they were meant to have a public training session.
Local team Felda United showed up and challenged Brendan Rodgers and his side, who responded by thrashing the minnows 7-0.
New signing Danny Ings earned himself a massive confidence boost by bagging a hat-trick, while Pedro Chirivella, Lazar Markovic, Sheyi Ojo and Joao Carlos Teixeira were also on the scoresheet.
According to Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce, who live-blogged the action on Twitter, Teixeira’s strike, which made it 6-0, was a 40-yard “worldie”.

I’d say 4,000 to 5,000 here. I’m told there was 40,000 for the open training session in KL four years ago.

Ings with a sweet finish into corner for his second. 5-0 to #LFC. Wilson then should have made it six but fluffed his kick.

An absolute worldie from Teixeira makes it 6-0. 40 yarder sailed over the stranded keeper. #LFCTour

And with the last kick of the game Ings makes it 7 to complete his hat-trick. #LFCtour. The Felda boys took one hell of a beating.
