Montenegrin international keen to draw a line under the past.
Manchester City star Stevan Jovetic has revealed that Serie A giants Juventus were interested in him, but ultimately he chose to move to England.
The 23-year-old sealed a move to the Etihad Stadium earlier this month as coach Manuel Pellegrini assembles a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
The former Fiorentina ace had been expected to join rivals Juve, but the Bianconeri instead secured deals for both Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez, thus leaving them with a number of options in attack despite wanting to sign the Montenegrin international.
As a result, Jovetic was handed the opportunity to sign for City, after it was revealed that he had been waiting nearly a year to clinch a move to the Premier League.
It is understood that troubled relations between the two Italian clubs also made it almost impossible for the deal to happen, but nevertheless Jovetic is pleased with his decision.
Having promised to score between 15-20 goals in his debut season for his new club, Jovetic has insisted that he wants to draw a line under events this summer and work hard having decided to join City.
“Juve were after me. Is that my fault? They were after me. I chose City. That’s it,” he told reporters as quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The youngster also took time to thank former club Fiorentina for their impact on his career, while also paying tribute to the various coaches he worked under during his time in Florence.
His switch to Manchester has had a mixed reaction, with some critics suggesting that his arrival does not necessarily represent a significant improvement on what City previously had.
