The New Orleans Saints were officially eliminated from the playoffs after a 30-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons as their record fell to 6-9.
The Saints were considered a favorite to win the Super Bowl before the season started due to their high-octane offense and their promising defense.
However, their defense has underachieved and ranks 31st in the NFL in total defense, causing some to wonder whether defensive coordinator Rob Ryan will be around in 2015.
Safety Kenny Vaccaro, who has disappointed greatly after a fantastic rookie season, vouched for his defensive coordinator. “Rob will be here,” the second-year safety said to The Times-Picayune.
The Saints also rank 29th in scoring defense with 26.9 points per game allowed, and their offense ranks first in the NFL in total yards.
This will give the Saints an easy excuse to fire Ryan, and it would mark his fourth time being fired as a defensive coordinator.
