The New Orleans Saints signed outside linebacker Junior Galette to a four-year contract extension worth $41.5 million.
The New Orleans Saints are quietly building one of the elite defenses in the NFL, and they continued to do so by signing outside linebacker Junior Galette to a contract extension.
His contract extension is worth $41.5 million and is over four years. $23 million of the contract is guaranteed.
Galette broke out for the Saints last season with 12 sacks, clearly benefiting from having Rob Ryan as his new defensive coordinator.
The outside linebacker can earn up to $48 million if he reaches 12 sacks again this season. He will benefit from having defensive Cameron Jordan around him, who also had a breakout season in the Saints’ first season with Ryan as defensive coordinator.
This will help the Saints defense even more since they have built one of the best secondary units in the NFL with Keenan Lewis as their top cornerback and Kenny Vaccaro and Jairus Byrd starting at safety.
If all goes well for the Saints defense, they may finish as the top unit in the league.
